Singing in Touraine

Since 2000, the Loire Valley has been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This trip invites you to discover the beauty of the landscapes of Touraine as well as its important historical heritage. You will meet a local choir and sing.

 

Program 7 days / 6 nights

Day 1 – Tours

Arrival in Tours, panoramic guided tour of the city of Tours which has an inestimable cultural heritage of different times and styles.
Check-in at hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 2 – Amboise, Chenonceau, Montlouis

Breakfast.
Morning, drive to Amboise and Clos Lucé: visit the residence of Leonardo da Vinci where the genius of the Renaissance lived from 1516 until his death in 1519. A collection of models and an audio-visual presentation pay tribute to the imagination and creativity of man.
Lunchtime.
Continue to Chenonceau, one of the most remarkable castles of the Loire, built by Catherine de Medici, best known for its gallery spanning the Cher River for more than 60 meters. Inside visit of the castle and walk along the Cher.
On the way back, we take the time of a wine tasting of Loire in Montlouis.
Back to hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 3 – Blois

Breakfast.
Morning, drive towards Blois: visit this city of art and history, important witness of the Wars of religion. Visit the castle which is still dominated by the memories of Francis the Irst and the assassination of the Duke of Guise.
Lunchtime.
Concert in the afternoon or evening.
Back to hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

 

Day 4 – Chambord, Cours Cheverny, Chaumont

Breakfast.
Morning, departure for Chambord: built by order of François the Irst from 1519, the castle is undoubtedly the biggest and the most impressive castle of the Loire, with its immense facade and its vast interior rooms. Guided tour of the castle and individual walk in the park.
Lunchtime in Chambord.
Continuation for Cours Cheverny known for his hunting dog pack and his magnificent collection of deer antlers in the castle room.
Back by Chaumont famous for its medieval castle overlooking the Loire.
Back along the Loire to Tours.
Back to hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 5: Azay-le-Rideau, Chinon, abbaye de Fontevraud, Villandry

Breakfast.
Morning, departure for Azay-le-Rideau, built under King Francis the Irst in the middle of a romantic park. Visit fully furnished interiors.
Then, drive to Chinon dominated by its castle, with its preserved medieval atmosphere. François Rabelais, a 16th century French poet, famous for his “Gargantua”, is closely linked to the city.
Lunchtime.
Road to the Abbey of Fontevraud, rich and important monastery before the French Revolution, today important cultural center. Visit the Abbey and continue on the other side of the Loire to the Château de Villandry, another famous Renaissance castle of the Loire Valley.

Return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

 

Day 6 – Langeais, Saumur, Montsoreau

Breakfast.
On the way to the Château de Langeais. The huge fortress erected in 1465 dominates the Loire and the city. Visit the castle with exquisite pieces of furniture, objets d’art and unusual Gobelins tapestries.
Then continue along the Loire and visit one of the many troglodyte caves still used today for storing wines and growing mushrooms.
Typical lunchtime in a cave in Montsoreau.
Afternoon visit of Saumur, town of Cadre Noir, the elite force of world riding. Visit of the riding academy and tasting of the famous sparkling white wine.
Return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 7 – Angers, Back home

Breakfast.
Morning, check-out hotel and departure for Angers. Visit the castle and museum of the tapestry of the Apocalypse (130 meters long, it is one of the most important evidence of medieval art).
Back home. End of our services.
